{"id":117,"date":"2015-03-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/marknmichelle\/make-me\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T09:03:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T09:03:41","slug":"make-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/marknmichelle\/make-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Make me\u2026!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"ssba\">\n<div>Share this post and help spread the love!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Okay. \u00a0So here\u2019s the deal. \u00a0My friend Chris is always telling me <del>I have<\/del> to watch my words. \u00a0I\u2019m not talking about swearing or name calling, just the way I phrase certain things. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>What I originally wrote is my problem. \u00a0 Almost every time I\u2019m telling her something, just in normal conversation, I use the words \u201chave to\u201d, \u201cmade me\u201d or \u201cmaking me\u201d. \u00a0It sounds as if I don\u2019t have any control over what I do. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I don\u2019t know where this all came from. \u00a0But I guess if I <del>have to<\/del> sit and think about it, I would probably say it came from all those times I felt like I HAD to do something. \u00a0Usually from my lack of saying no. \u00a0See, I would over extend my time because I either felt like no one else would do it or because I wanted to feel important. \u00a0But even though I agreed to it\u2013and even sometimes offered\u2013I really didn\u2019t want to, and hence \u201chave to\u201d or \u201cmaking me\u201d. \u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I don\u2019t HAVE to do anything (except eat and sleep). \u00a0No one can MAKE me do anything. \u00a0But unconsciously that\u2019s how I have always felt and so that\u2019s what always comes out of my mouth. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>We all remember the old children\u2019s saying, \u201cSticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.\u201d \u00a0Yeah, we all know that\u2019s not true. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I am learning now that words have a lot of power over your thoughts and feelings. \u00a0If you speak joy, you feel joy. \u00a0If you speak anger, you feel anger. \u00a0If you speak a feeling of being made to do something, that\u2019s how I\u2019m going to feel, and maybe even each and every time that person asks me to do something in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Words have more power than we all can imagine. \u00a0Words can be consoling, caring, thoughtful, uplifting, loving, and they can also be hurtful, angry, mean, nasty, punishing. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I\u2019m not only talking about words we actually speak either. \u00a0These include words that we say to ourselves, our thoughts. \u00a0We all need to learn how to develop a better <a href=\"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/blog\/category\/mindset\/\">mindset<\/a>, a better way of thinking, not only for ourselves and our loved ones but for everyone we come into contact with each and every day. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>There is a lot of gloom and doom out in the world. \u00a0All you really ever hear are all the bad news, horrible things people do to each other, wars, theft, murder. \u00a0It is already hard enough to live in a world like this. \u00a0Why not try to bring a little light into your mind instead of darkness? \u00a0Talk about uplifting stories instead of the latest divorce. \u00a0Talk about a happy event instead of the celebrity who just committed suicide. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>We talk and talk but pay no attention to the words that are coming out of our mouths. \u00a0If we stopped and listened to ourselves, we may find that our conversations are directly linked to our bad moods. \u00a0 Even some of our problems can be a direct cause of bad choices we make in our words.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I\u2019m not saying that our words are the cause of all of our problems. \u00a0But they are a cause of a great deal of them, directly or indirectly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Why don\u2019t we all try for one day to slow down our speech, really listen to the words we say, and make an effort to put positivity into them? \u00a0It couldn\u2019t hurt, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"ssba\">\n<div>Share this post and help spread the love!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Share this post and help spread the love!
