Like many a stay at home Mom or Dad, I am the grocery shopper in the household. It\u2019s my job to plan our meals, make the list and buy the stuff.<\/p>\n
My family loves jam\/jelly. But I really, just\u2026.well\u2026don\u2019t. With the exception of Orange Marmalade.<\/p>\n
I like orange marmalade. Notice I did not say \u201clove\u201d\u2026I said \u201clike\u201d as in, if we have it I will eat it, but I don\u2019t go out of my way to buy it.<\/p>\n
Whenever we go shopping I usually let whichever little helper I have with me, decide what kind of jam or jelly we buy.<\/p>\n
Imagine my surprise about 2 months ago, when Sophie picked out..ta da!!! Orange marmalade. The one I do like. Not love. Like.<\/p>\n
Turns out\u2026<\/p>\n
They hate<\/em><\/span> it.<\/p>\n And I have heard all about how disgusting it is.<\/p>\n \u201cEEEEWWWWEEEE!!!!! IT HAS ORANGE PEELS IN IT!\u201d<\/p>\n Yeah. It does. I told you about that when you picked it out. You said you didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n \u201cEEEEEEEEWWWW! IT\u2019S SO GROOOOOOSSSSS! IT HAS WEIRD CHUNKIES IN IT!\u201d<\/p>\n Yeah. It does. Those are orange peels. I\u2019ve explained that.<\/p>\n \u201cMom. I would like orange mamalalade except for the disgusting<\/em> orange peels\u201d.<\/p>\n Okay, it\u2019s the \u201cdisgusting\u201d orange peels that make it MAR-ma-lade.<\/p>\n So, I let them pick out a different jelly. I think we\u2019ve had grape and strawberry since we last bought the marmalade\u2026<\/p>\n \u2026and yet\u2026<\/p>\n \u2026everytime that dang fridge opens for jelly I hear a shrill little girl voice say.<\/p>\n \u201cEEEEWWWW! We still have this?! I HATE orange peel jelly!\u201d<\/p>\n And I think\u2026.of course we still have it! I\u2019m the only one eating it and I have toast like, once a week. (is it bad to say \u201cDUH\u201d to your kids?)<\/p>\n So this morning as Dylan (not one of the kids) is eating his toast, NOT with Marmalade I might add\u2026he says in a tone that suggests I somehow forced the marmalade on them all,<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, Babe?
