Choosing and buying a Labrador puppy<\/em> is obviously a wonderful time for the entire family but naturally you need to make sure of the compatibility of you, your family, your home and your puppy.<\/p>\n

Labrador Puppy Health.<\/span><\/h2>\n

An important factor to consider when you buy a puppy is that it should be healthy.<\/p>\n

There are a number of signs to look out when you choose your pup.
\n– At a young age, a Lab puppy must be well proportioned and solid; if he looks like a little porker, then that is a great sign!
\n– Conversely, if the\u00a0 puppy is thin or if the ribs are visible then this is a sign that he is either malnourished or ill. Either way, you must walk away, regrettable as it may be.
\n– The pup\u2019s coat must be luxurious and soft
\n– When choosing your Labrador puppy, inspect the dog thoroughly for signs of poor skin condition. Bald patches or scars are signs of skin problems.
\n– You also need to inspect the puppies\u2019 backside. He should have a clean bottom; a sign of diarrhea indicates pup\u2019s poor health. Also, you should check and see if there is dandruff-like white matter around the dog\u2019s backside. If there are, this is an indication of tapeworm and if he has tapeworm, then he is more likely to have fleas as well. Eating a flea can result in tapeworm so don\u2019t ever neglect the puppies\u2019 backside when inspecting your potential new canine friend.
\n– Check to see if the\u00a0 puppy\u00a0 has clear eyes. Red eyes indicate problems but clear, bright and inquisitive eyes are signs of good health.
\n– The Labrador pup should have bright pink gums and make sure his mouth is even and his jaws are aligned.
\n– Observe\u00a0 the puppy whilst it is moving. If he is healthy he will dash around with no signs of lameness or a limp.
\n– Check the ears of the puppy thoroughly. His ears should be clean and nice without any discharge or inflammation.\u00a0 Observe him to make sure he isn\u2019t excessively shaking his head or scratching his ears.<\/p>\n

Labrador Puppy Breeders<\/span><\/h2>\n

Finding the right breeder makes choosing a Labrador puppy<\/em> a lot easier. A good breeder will draw in most of his customers through word of mouth; there is no need for him to advertise.
\nSatisfied customers will have no hesitation upon recommending him and a breeder with good reputation will have no objections to providing you with phone numbers of customers with whom you can check the breeder\u2019s reputation.
\nBefore completing any purchase, make sure that the breeder will agree to have the pup checked by an independent veterinarian.<\/p>\n

Again, a reputable breeder won\u2019t have any problem with this and an independent check-up will give you a complete peace of mind.
\nOne final factor to consider when purchasing a Labrador pup is the price. If it is too low, chances are you are not getting a bargain but more likely buying a puppy that is either misrepresented in his breeding or ill.
Be wary if the breeder is asking for less.<\/p>\n
