Willow the fire starter, is immune to fire damage and she lights little fires in the pitch black night. Wendy has a ghost sister Abigail that comes at night. Wolfgang the strong man has higher heath, higher stomach and hits harder. WX-78 is a robot that can eat rotten food and take no penalty. Wickerbottom the Librarian has a bonus tech level. And Wes the mime, is completely useless, doesn’t speak and has a hard time staying alive, so basically he’s a character to use if you want a challenge. My favorite character in Don’t Starve has to be Willow; I don’t know why, I just like to play her. The characters don’t speak though, they talk in tones of instruments, it’s kind of old fashioned so to speak, its really quite awesome.

How Don’t Starve Works!

Don’t starve is a very challenging survival game, you come across a lot of different obstacles, whether it be trying to find food to stay alive or even fighting off a hoard of hounds that come every 10 days or so. One day in the world of Don’t Starve lasts around 8 minutes, from day to night. You have 3 circles in the top right corner of your screen, the top one is Sanity, if your character experiences something abnormal, say wolfs come or if your chopping trees down and one of them comes alive and try’s to kill you for chopping down to many trees, your sanity will slowly deplete, if your sanity hits zero your nightmare hallucinations will indeed try to kill you. The bottom two are your stomach showing how hungry or full it is, and the other is heath, obviously showing how much life you have left.

The makers of Don’t Starve update the game every 14 days or so, adding more and changing existing things to the game. Recently, in the last two or three updates, they have added winter and rain/thunder/lighting, winter comes at around day 20, but if that’s too hard for you and you can’t arrange enough recourses before then, than before you create your game at the menu you can customize your came, to make it a long summer (40 days).

Don’t Starve is a very, very addicting game, my highest day count (how far I’ve made it in the game) is to day 211, I then died. Once you die you lose your world, all of your data and must restart again. You can Build an effigy that is a respawn station that lets you spawn once you have died, once you have used it you must build another for it to work again.

I have been playing Don’t Starve for quite a while now, and the only time I got sick of it was when I died at day 211 and stopped playing for a week. This game is full of surprises and a ton more things to-do from what I’ve said, I highly recommend checking Don’t Starve out if you’re into adventure indie games.

This Blog Post was written by my son Jesse Ranson )

Don’t Starve is a adventure, action, fun packed indie game. Starting off in Don’t Starve This third point of view indie games objective kind of speaks for itself, Don’t starve.
