REJECTED? No\u2026\u2026<\/h2>\n

\u00a0Have you ever been there? Were you ever\u00a0in\u00a0a position where you\u00a0were just inspired to be creative? Maybe you like to draw, sing, play an instrument,\u00a0paint,\u00a0carve or even\u00a0build things. Whenever you became inspired, you just went full-speed ahead; making works of art that you were so excited about. The work came easy and you made one thing after another, after\u00a0another.<\/p>\n

You were so excited you decided to share with friends and family.\u00a0Soon friends started telling you\u00a0how great your work was and how you\u00a0should continue to do more creative work like that. You were just\u00a0exhilarated, smiling and feeling awesome. In fact, all the positivism encouraged you to do even better. You worked more and became more creative.\u00a0Doing the\u00a0usual,\u00a0you shared your work with your friends,\u00a0family and\u00a0THEN one day, IT CAME\u2026..<\/p>\n

Can we talk?<\/h2>\n

One of your dear friends said they had a thought and wanted to share with you. You were eager to hear what your dear friend had to say. Up to this point, your dear friend\u00a0has just been so helpful, motivating, encouraging\u2026\u2026\u2026 you\u2019re attentive to what he or she has to say.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cYour work needs improving. You may want to make some changes. You need to be more uplifting. People may think the wrong thing.\u00a0I just thought\u00a0YOU should hear that, but I did enjoy your work.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

YOU ARE CRUSHED.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You didn\u2019t see that coming. You thought for a moment and said to yourself, why is my friend telling me this?<\/p>\n

Have you ever been there?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I HAVE. Usually when this occurs to me I am down. When I am down, I can\u2019t create anything. My writings stop, my music stops, everything STOPS. It\u00a0is just halted. I can go weeks, months even years before I can begin creating anything again; BUT do you want to know what I realized today?<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone will not like me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone will not like what I do.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

You know what else?<\/p>\n

THAT IS OKAY.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can\u2019t let the fact that some people will dislike my work get me down. I have to decide that regardless if my friends or\u00a0family don\u2019t\u00a0like my work, I will continue to be creative and do my work anyway. I realize that I have to have a certain level of maturity to do what I do, like consider if I am causing any hurt or harm to anyone as a result of my art; inspiring them to murder, kill or steal for example, is NOT okay. However,\u00a0if I am not inspiring anyone to do something morally wrong then I personally should be satisfied with my work, regardless of rejection.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Feelings are different for everyone<\/strong><\/p>\n

People will not always feel the same as\u00a0I do about\u00a0my work.\u00a0I can even mistakenly assume the other person does feel the same, but\u00a0being the best that\u00a0I can be does not mean everyone will appreciate me. I don\u2019t have to change my character or personality to fit in or earn friendships\u2026.<\/p>\n

and guess what?<\/p>\n

Today I decided\u2026<\/p>\n

I WON\u2019T!<\/p>\n

The real deal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Real friends will appreciate my character and accept me for who I am and what I stand for. I have to respect everyone\u2019s right to their opinions, but I will not be concerned about trying to make others like me. As I continue to be myself, doing the right thing and being consistent in being myself toward others, many people will learn of me and will desire my friendship. Not because I had to change to suit their opinions, but because I chose to be myself and appreciate my own personality.<\/p>\n
