Fresh tech just beats the snot out of another stinky perfume sample<\/h3>\n

In the October issue of Marie Clare<\/span> magazine for the UK, Dolce and Gabbana perfume is being advertised with a video ad.\u00a0 The ad has been inserted in a few thousand copies of the 396-page issue, on pages 34 and 35.\u00a0 It features a 45-second video ad including sound, which plays when the reader opens the page.\u00a0 The video screen is no bigger than an iPhone.\u00a0 How tremendously cool is this application of tech?<\/em><\/p>\n

OK, the hunky guy isn\u2019t bad either\u2026.but the tech<\/strong> is the reason we\u2019re\u00a0so interested (nudge nudge wink wink).<\/p>\n

The video screen is powered by a rechargeable battery that can store up to 45 minutes of video.\u00a0\u00a0 Video magazine ads have been used in several countries around the world so far, including the U.S., Spain, and Russia.\u00a0\u00a0 One recent ad was for Bacardi,\u00a0in Russian Vogue.\u00a0\u00a0I guess if you want to\u00a0export vodka to the Russians,\u00a0you gotta do something very<\/em> different.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a light in the darkness\u2026.<\/h3>\n

From Snopes, here\u2019s an article snippet\u00a0about tech from 1901:<\/p>\n

\u201cToday you\u2019ll find a remarkable light bulb burning bright at a fire station in Livermore, California. It hasn\u2019t been turned off since 1901, shining around the clock save for a\u00a0 few brief interruptions) for nearly one million hours now. The Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley\u2019s Believe It Or Not and General Electric agree the four-watt, carbon filament bulb is the longest\u2010living in history, despite two moves and a few power outages during its lifetime.<\/p>\n

Many theories have been advanced to explain the Livermore bulb\u2019s longevity, the primary factors most often mentioned being its perfect seal (which maintains the vacuum and keeps the filament from disintegrating), its low wattage (which keeps it from burning hot), and that it is not subject to being turned off and on.\u201d<\/p>\n
