{"id":9,"date":"2013-01-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/justvision\/?p=9"},"modified":"2026-07-31T20:15:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T20:15:43","slug":"pink-eye-conjunctivitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/justvision\/pink-eye-conjunctivitis\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink Eye \u2013 Conjunctivitis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is Pink Eye?\u00a0 It is more appropriately called <strong>Conjunctivitis<\/strong>.\u00a0 There are many sources but the most common source is viral.\u00a0 Pink Eye or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Conjunctivitis<\/span> is inflammation of the clear membrane over the white of the eye and lining of the lids. Causes consist of viral, bacterial, allergy and contact with toxic substances.\u00a0 Common symptoms are redness, irritation, dryness, pain and discharge or tearing.\u00a0 <em>Conjunctivitis<\/em> associated with a thick discharge is most likely bacterial.\u00a0 <strong>Conjunctivitis<\/strong> associated with a watery discharge or tearing is more likely than not viral or allergic.\u00a0 Allergy almost never effects just one eye and tends to be seasonal or chronic.\u00a0 The symptoms associated with allergies are commonly redness, itching and a watery or stringy discharge.\u00a0 This is treated\u00a0 with antihistamines both orally and in drop form. If it is a recurring problem or chronic it is important to isolate the allergen in order to remove it from your environment or treat is more appropriately with injections if necessary.\u00a0 Viral <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">conjunctivitis<\/span> is the most common form and often times preceded by an upper respiratory infection.\u00a0 It is contagious and can last weeks.\u00a0 It is associated with redness, swelling, crusting of the lashes and a watery discharge.\u00a0 It is important to help prevent spread by washing your hands frequently and using hand sanitizers.\u00a0 Do not share towels or bed linen.\u00a0 Remember everything you touch can then be infected.\u00a0 There is no wonder drug to make this condition go away.\u00a0 Common treatments consist of cool compresses and artificial tears for comfort.\u00a0 Most primary care providers will treat most red eye conditions as either bacterial or allergy.\u00a0 When neither treatment resolves the problem then you are most likely looking at a viral condition which will have to run it\u2019s course.\u00a0 The most dangerous form of <em>conjunctivitis<\/em> is bacterial and the least common fortunately.\u00a0 It is associated with redness, swelling, crusting and a thick discharge.\u00a0 There are antibiotic drops for treatment of this condition and close follow up is required to make sure it doesn\u2019t get out of control.\u00a0 the same precautions apply since this condition is contagious as well.\u00a0 Wash your hand and use hand sanitizer frequently.\u00a0 Again, don\u2019t share towels or bed linens.\u00a0 Keep your hands to yourself.\u00a0 If pain increases or vision decreases that\u2019s a very bad sign which needs prompt attention by an Ophthalmologist which is a medical doctor trained to deal with medical conditions of the eye.\u00a0 If you have small children who attend school and bring a red eye condition home it is most likely viral in origin.\u00a0 Consult with an Ophthalmologist as soon as possible if there is increased pain, thick discharge or decreased vision as this could be a more serious bacterial infection.\u00a0 Other causes for red eyes consist of iritis, episcleritis and narrow angle glaucoma.\u00a0 Pain and blurred vision should prompt you to seek the advise and treatment from an ophthalmologist.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/readytorelease.php?id=justvision\">Click here if you\u2019re tired of your job and want real money!!!!<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Pink Eye?\u00a0 It is more appropriately called Conjunctivitis.\u00a0 There are many sources but the most common source is viral.\u00a0 Pink Eye or Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the clear membrane over the white of the eye and lining of the lids.
