His philosophies are a lost art in today\u2019s society.\u00a0 It\u2019s easy to read, and it\u2019s built on common sense, which again many lack nowadays!\u00a0 I think everyone should read it and put it to good use\u2013this world would be a much nicer place!\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Principle #1:\u00a0 The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.<\/p>\n
Principle #2:\u00a0 Show respect for the other person\u2019s opinions.\u00a0 Never say, \u201cYou\u2019re wrong.\u201d\u00a0 (I used to have someone say this to me a lot\u2013it was very demeaning even though THAT person was not very bright!\u00a0 It just took me a while to realize it\u2026.)<\/p>\n
Principle #3:\u00a0 If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.<\/p>\n
Principle #4:\u00a0 Begin in a friendly way.<\/p>\n
Principle #5:\u00a0 Get the other person saying \u201cyes, yes\u201d immediately.<\/p>\n
Principle #6:\u00a0 Let the other person do a great deal of the talking.<\/p>\n
Principle #7:\u00a0 Let the other person feel that the idea is his or hers.<\/p>\n
Principle #8:\u00a0 Try honestly to see things from the other person\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n
Principle #9:\u00a0 Be sympathetic with the other person\u2019s ideas and desires.<\/p>\n
Principle #10:\u00a0 Appeal to the nobler motives.\u00a0 (Assume\u00a0 that people are honest, sincere, and truthful\u2013let them know this.\u00a0 Sometimes they will let you down, but more often that not, they won\u2019t if they know what you think of them.)<\/p>\n
Principle #11:\u00a0 Dramatize your ideas.\u00a0 (Use dramatization and showmanship to make ideas seem better.)<\/p>\n
Principle #12:\u00a0 Throw down a challenge.\u00a0 (Give them a chance to win, to prove their worth.)<\/p>\n
