I have worked many jobs over the years\u2014most of them in retail.\u00a0 While I no longer work in retail, my job as Lawn & Garden Department Manager at WalMart is hands down THE MOST FUN I have EVER had on the job!<\/p>\n
I just pulled out my Christmas music CDs and the memories just flooded back\u2014the memories I made with my WalMart buddies are very special and always will be.\u00a0 So I decided they would be my next blog post!<\/p>\n
At Christmas time, lawn and garden transformed to Christmas, and I must say, I had the best looking department around!<\/p>\n
<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n We always had a big display of Christmas trees and Christmas music played all the time.<\/p>\n Good \u2018ol John used to spend hours decorating the ceiling for me and putting up our Christmas tree display.\u00a0 He hung the items from the ceiling with a scissor lift that, let\u2019s just say, he wasn\u2019t the most careful driving around!\u00a0 There would be times when he wouldn\u2019t \u201cquite\u201d clear a corner and he would take out the base of some endcap, and you would here \u201cWhoopsie\u2026.\u201d and he would just drive on\u2026..LOL.<\/p>\n We all had our favorite CDs, and my team thought it was big fun to hide my favorites from me.\u00a0 On my list of favs was Michael Bolton, who suspiciously went missing A LOT!\u00a0 One time I even found him taped to the rafters way up high!\u00a0 (ahem\u2026.CHAD!)\u00a0 How could you not like this one?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Whenever I hear that, I think of my right-hand man Gary \u201cswinging\u201d his nonexistent hair to the side like Michael Bolton used to do\u2026..lol\u00a0 Gary was the best!\u00a0 He did anything I needed him to do.\u00a0 However, for some reason, his wife didn\u2019t like me.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t like it when he talked to me (hello, he could have been my dad!)\u2014so whenever she was in the store, which was A LOT, he stayed away from me, and he would say our safe word, \u201cBuckeye alert!\u201d to let me know she was there!\u00a0 Lol\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n Then there was Matt\u2014he did the best Santa voice ever!\u00a0 We put him 10 feet behind a life-sized Santa and had him talk through the microphone\u2014really surprised\/scared some folks!\u00a0 Most of those people weren\u2019t customers, they were people who worked there, so it was good fun to stand back and watch him do his magic\u2026..lol<\/p>\n The guys loved to play tricks on me.\u00a0 All the time.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how many times I tried to put on my coat and my sleeves had been zip-tied together so that I couldn\u2019t put my arms in.\u00a0 I used to have my telxon and my cart to do my price changes, make labels, whatever.\u00a0 What really annoyed the hell out of me?\u00a0 I would leave to help a customer, come back and try to use the telxon and the battery would be missing!\u00a0 (CHAD, EDDIE)\u00a0 Or I would try to move the cart and it wouldn\u2019t move because the wheels were zip-tied together\u2026.<\/p>\n Such great memories!\u00a0 I have enjoyed reminiscing so much that this blog post turned into 3!\u00a0 I have been sitting here typing, remembering and laughing\u2026\u2026all great times that I will never forget.\u00a0 Every Christmas I think of these guys when I hear the music that brings it all back.<\/p>\n Tune in tomorrow for part 2!\u00a0 <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
