Why can\u2019t I get some breaks too?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Do you ask yourself, \u201cHow can I succeed in life?\u201d or \u201cWhat do I need to DO in order to become successful?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Is it hard for you to smile and laugh?<\/li>\n<li>Are you ready to release YOUR Inner Badass?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then follow along for next couple weeks as we explore these 7 keys to <a href=\"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/blog\/category\/mindset\/\">personal development<\/a>!<\/p>\n<h3>Today\u2019s Topic: \u00a0Comparison to Others<\/h3>\n<p><em>\u201cThe problem with comparison is that you always feel either better than someone else or worthless compared to someone else.\u201d \u00a0\u2015 Dillon Burroughs<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you compare yourself to others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.\u201d \u00a0\u2015 Max Ehrmann, Desiderata: A Poem for a Way of Life<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you are not being YOU, then you are in some ways comparing yourself to others.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s not even a direct or conscious <strong>comparison<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maybe it\u2019s a thought of, \u201cHow come so-and-so gets all the breaks?\u201d\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Maybe it\u2019s a thought of, \u00a0\u201dIt\u2019s fine that so-and-so makes all that money?\u201d (as if what you make is just fine too?)\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Maybe it\u2019s just the way you feel when you are around certain people\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Maybe it\u2019s how you feel, or what you think about, when you\u2019re alone with yourself\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People who constantly compare themselves to others often do so because they may be looking for one (or more) of these:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To justify their own beliefs or behaviors\u2026<\/li>\n<li>To avoid taking personal responsibility for their own behaviors and beliefs\u2026<\/li>\n<li>To make themselves feel better about themselves (usually by comparing themselves to someone they believe to be lesser than themselves, or by putting someone else down)\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Are afraid that by being themselves people won\u2019t like them, will leave them, or will put them down <em>(funny how they\u2019ll put others down to feel better about themselves but fear the same happening to them)<\/em>\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Are afraid to express who they truly are (or may not even know who they TRULY ARE)\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Don\u2019t compare yourself to other people. It won\u2019t help. You\u2019ll only find what you expect to find. If you think you\u2019re weak, everyone else will seem stronger. If you think you\u2019re strong, everyone else will seem weaker. There\u2019s no point in doing this. Simply look at where you are now, and aim to get better as you go forward. \u00a0&#8211; Samantha Skye<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kinda sums it up\u2026<\/p>\n<p><span>Comparison<\/span> to others only magnifies what we already know about ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Comparison to others only leads to\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feelings of worthless (or the opposite, superiority) \u2013 an unhealthy self-image<\/li>\n<li>Vanity<\/li>\n<li>Bitterness<\/li>\n<li>Unhappiness<\/li>\n<li>Feeling unfulfilled<\/li>\n<li>Feeling that life is not fair<\/li>\n<li>Insulting yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>A More Healthy Comparison<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cEverything you\u2019re looking for lies behind the mask you wear.\u201d \u2013 Stephen C. Paul<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You have everything you need. Everything you\u2019re looking for already exists within you. All you need to do is\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>BE YOU!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each day strive to be a better YOU!!<\/p>\n<p>No more comparison\u2026<\/p>\n<p>What others think, say or do, does NOT matter for your success and fulfillment! The ONLY thing that matters is YOU \u2013 and becoming a better you!<\/p>\n<p>Even if some people around you now don\u2019t understand, don\u2019t like the real YOU, or even leave you, being YOU is the most important thing you can for yourself\u2026 and the world!<\/p>\n<p><em>The best way to make this world a better place is to be your authentic, transparent self\u2026 and to fear not that friends, peers or acquaintances may move away from you for it. The ones you love you remain, and new ones will step toward you because they will finally SEE you! This works for you personal life, and your professional life. A life changing concept, I know.
