Well, you get my point.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Vince Young<\/u><\/strong>, an ex NFL quarterback who once had a\u00a0<em>multimillion\u00a0dollar contract<\/em>,\u00a0is now facing bankruptcy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">How does this happen to someone who had so much money?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve heard people ask this question over the last few days..criticize him&#8230;make jokes and\u00a0honestly&#8230;I speculate that most of them are hypocrites.<\/p>\n<p>There are many people who can&#8217;t manage a fraction of the money Vince Young has had come through his fingers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;.but yet are being judgmental. Hmmm&#8230;.interesting. Dumb actually.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">The last time I checked, if a person is not good at managing a small amount of money (or never learned how to), them making more money doesn&#8217;t magically\u00a0solve that problem.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This story, in my opinion, isn&#8217;t about making a spectacle of Vince Young. Maybe he&#8217;s embarassed and I understand if he is. But that shouldn&#8217;t be the lesson here.<\/p>\n<p><u>The lesson is&#8230;regardless to who you are&#8230;and how much money you make, if you don&#8217;t have a sound base of\u00a0financial education, you&#8217;re in trouble<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><em>It&#8217;s not about how much money you make, it&#8217;s about how much you keep and what you do with it.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always taken being financially literate seriously and try to continually learn more information to help me be sound in my financial decisions. I&#8217;ve adopted people like\u00a0<u>Robert Kiyosaki\u00a0<\/u>as my distant mentors on the topics of business and money.<\/p>\n<p><u>I&#8217;ve shared a lot of the information I&#8217;ve learned over the years on this very blog (<\/u><a href=\"http:\/\/indygoldmind.empowernetwork.com\/blog\/category\/financial-literacy-education\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\">click\u00a0here<\/a><u>)\u00a0so check it out for yourself.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Why have I done that you ask? Good question.<\/p>\n<p>One, because\u00a0<span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><u>school teaches us jack diddly squat about money<\/u><\/span>. One of the most important subjects to your survival as an adult, and it&#8217;s rarely even talked about in school?<\/p>\n<p><u>A travesty I must say&#8230;a travesty<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, as great as my family is,\u00a0<u>nobody taught me this stuff growing up<\/u>. I may have gotten certain nuggets here and there but people can&#8217;t teach what they don&#8217;t know themselves, right?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><em>So, I like to share what I know so others may grow along with me. I think that&#8217;s only right.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I do it because I hate seeing headlines like:\u00a0<u><strong>Vince Young Bankrupt<\/strong><\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>If I had a magic wand, not only would everyone be as financially prosperous as they personally desired, but they&#8217;d also be able to sustain that livelihood and never lose it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">Having it and losing it is not a fun feeling. Believe me, I know&#8230;.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;..and\u00a0education is the key to preventing that from happening.
