He was intelligent, athletic and had a good personality. Trevor was about 14 years old, had just begun his freshman year at his local high school, but didn\u2019t know the first thing about the importance of <u><strong>positive thinking<\/strong><\/u>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He didn\u2019t have the greatest self-esteem and didn\u2019t view himself as highly as he should have given all of his outstanding qualities. Because of this, even though Trevor had a huge crush on one of his classmates, Belle, he\u00a0was scared to let her know it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Trevor was head over heels for Belle and had been for a few years actually. A freshman dance came up and Trevor attended with some friends of his. Of course, Belle was there too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Trevor\u2019s friends knew how much he dug Belle so they hyped him up to talk to her and get her phone number\u2026.<em>and you know how peer pressure can be<\/em>. So Trevor started contemplating his approach while trying to control his bladder&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>All Trevor could think about was how Belle wouldn\u2019t be interested in him, how he probably wasn\u2019t her type, and how she would most likely laugh in his face when he approached her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>All while having these thoughts, Trevor didn\u2019t even realize that his feet had been moving and that he was fastly approaching Belle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><span><em>&#8220;Too late to turn back now I guess&#8221;<\/em>, thought Trevor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Emotions of uncertaintly, uneasiness and anxiety overwhelmed Trevor as he finally reached Belle. They met eyes and Belle met him with a pleasant hello. What happened next wouldn\u2019t get a passing grade at the school of mack daddies for damn sure\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Trevor became so nervous that he began stuttering, he clammed up, couldn\u2019t get his words out and he flat out embarrassed the hell out of himself. He retreated out of the party with his tail tucked in between in his legs never to be seen again that night&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><u><span>Fast forward three years.<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>It took a while for Trevor to get over the embarrassment of the\u00a0night he tried to\u00a0talk to Belle. He did a lot of soul searching and began making\u00a0some changes.\u00a0Now a senior, Trevor, through <a href=\"https:\/\/empowernetwork.com\/blog\/category\/mindset\/\">personal development<\/a> and changing the thoughts he had of himself, had a different <em>swagger<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Although not cocky in any sense, Trevor now knew he was a great young man and embraced all of the wonderful qualities that he had. <u>His confidence in himself soared and as a result so did his self-esteem<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Belle still attended the same high school as Trevor and senior prom was coming up in a few months. Trevor, <u>ever eager to redeem himself<\/u>, decided to ask Belle to the prom. He found Belle after school one day and he set out on his mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Trevor confidently sparked up a conversation with Belle about common classes they had and he asked if he could walk her home. She obliged and they had a great conversation during their walk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>As they reached Belle\u2019s house, Trevor casually asked Belle when she was going to start shopping for the dress she was going to wear for their prom date. Blushing, Belle played coy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><span><span>&#8220;I don\u2019t know, when should I?&#8221;, asked Belle.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><span><span>&#8220;I think this weekend would be a good time. Why don\u2019t you give me your phone number so we can discuss what colors we\u2019re going to wear?&#8221;, said Trevor.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Belle gave Trevor her phone number and before walking away Trevor said, <span><em>\u201cWith the greatest girl in the school on the arm of the greatest guy in the school, it\u2019s bound to be a great night. I\u2019m excited and I\u2019m looking forward to it. I\u2019ll call you later.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Trevor have Belle a quick kiss on the cheek and he walked away beaming with pride.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><u>So what did Trevor teach me<\/u>? He taught me that the thoughts you hold in your mind are important. <u>Those thoughts can only be controlled by one person\u2026YOU<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><span>The thoughts you have determine the way you feel. The way you feel determines the actions you take, or the effectiveness of those actions. And those actions ultimately lead to the results you get in your life.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>By changing the thoughts he had of himself, Trevor changed the way he felt about himself. Those feelings led him to act more confidently and with purpose.
