March 17th is an annual celebration throughout the United States and elsewhere. \u00a0The celebration is in the spirit of a patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick. \u00a0The holiday was made official by the Catholic Church back in the 17th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green is the official color of the day, and most have no idea of the purpose or meaning of the day other than to wear green and to get drunk drinking Irish brews. \u00a0In the United States, its basically a reason for people to celebrate and get drunk<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the true meaning of St Patricks Day?<\/span><\/h2>\n

My understanding of the true meaning of St. Patrick\u2019s Day is the beginning of Christianity in Ireland. \u00a0I believe St. Patrick gets credit for the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ironically, St Patrick was from the United Kingdom, not Ireland. \u00a0I\u2019ve heard some stories about how he somehow rid Ireland of all snakes. \u00a0I don\u2019t know if this is even a literal story, but I\u2019m certain it is not true and not relevant to the holiday.<\/span><\/p>\n
