Have you been feeling the pains of separating from family during the work week?<\/span><\/p>\n

Are you reluctant to leave your children with someone else during the biggest part of their day?<\/span><\/p>\n

Most people in my age bracket grew up with a parent that stayed at home.<\/span><\/p>\n

My generation of baby boomers were right on the edge of both parents having to work.<\/span><\/p>\n

When I was growing up, we walked home for lunch and then returned to school. The district was set up so that you attended a school that was in walking distance exactly for that reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lunch program had not began in our city of Evanston, Illinois yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

My sisters and I would walk home and be met by our mother\u2019s helper who would feed us lunch and then supervise us until we needed to leave to get back to school.<\/span><\/p>\n

We knew when we had to leave because Bozo The Clown show would end on T.V.!<\/span><\/p>\n

For some of you this will bring back memories and gives you a good laugh!<\/span><\/p>\n

For the rest of you, it will probably give you a surprise at how strange T.V. used to be and a good chuckle in your amazement that this clown was so popular!<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, he was and it was one of those-\u201cI can\u2019t miss it!\u201d needs of every elementary school age child!<\/span><\/p>\n

We would go back to school after having had some TLC given out at home and be ready to face the rest of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, children are often dropped off or on the bus at 7:15 in the morning, and do not return home until as late as 6:00 that evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even if your kids are the lucky ones who do not have to be in school except for the required hours, they are still in other people\u2019s care for around 7 hours each day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then you get to pick them up when they are exhausted, cranky, and hungry!<\/span><\/p>\n

I used to stick mine in the tub as soon as we got home each day just to calm them after a hectic day.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cbewitching\u201d hour would take on a horrific mind of its own if I did not intervene!<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you not heard of the \u00a0\u201cbewitching\u201dhour?<\/span><\/p>\n

That is the hour and a half from the time you get home until you sit down for dinner:)<\/span><\/p>\n

It is the time when you swear your child is growing horns out of their heads because they are exhausted from following someone else\u2019s rules all day, controlling their behavior when their needs are not met, and they are starving because lunch was so long ago!<\/span><\/p>\n

Even the most docile child will turn ballistic once he\/she is with their family because they just can\u2019t control everything anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is just the way it is for so many working families. They wonder why their child can behave all day(or most of it:) at school and then turn into someone else as soon as they pick them up!<\/span><\/p>\n

It is just one of those left handed compliments- they love you and feel comfortable with you so they do not have to put on their \u201cother face\u201d around you.<\/span><\/p>\n

And thank goodness they are comfortable with you and love you!<\/span><\/p>\n

Because you are the only person they are going to be able to learn positive relationships, conflict resolution skills, and true emotional security from.<\/span><\/p>\n

And for those of you reading this who are poo pooing my words, you are not being truthful with yourselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

You are holding on to a hope of what is going on at school.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teachers no longer have the time and unfortunately the whereforall to develop positive relationships with their students!<\/span><\/p>\n

I have taught for 34 years and it used to be the way you think it is!<\/span><\/p>\n

But now in 2015 it just doesn\u2019t happen anymore unless you are paying major money or you have chosen to unschool or home school your child.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are paying huge amounts of money to educate your child, I sincerely hope you are really passionate about what you are doing at work.<\/span><\/p>\n

If this is your situation, I applaud you and wish more people were in your situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the sad thing is-most of us work ourselves until we are frazzled, come home to spend a few hours with maintenance chores in child care and house essentials, and then flop into bed and hope to feel rested when the alarm blares in our ears!<\/span><\/p>\n

We turn around and our baby of a few months is now seven and going to school every day. And we stand in disbelief that the time is gone.<\/span><\/p>\n

I know- that is how it was for me. I was lucky enough to have vacations and summers with my kids but when it was time to go back to school, we would all go into this grumpy transition of never having enough time in the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

I will never forget when one August day towards the end of the month, I was driving through a restaurant after leaving school 2 hours after the day was over for the students because it was the beginning of the year and I had so many things not yet done, and I was asking my children what they wanted and they were goofing around and not listening. I responded with an angry, \u201cOK, then you must not be hungry!\u201d. My oldest daughter said, \u201cWow, Mom, I hate it when you go back to school cause you are so grumpy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That has stayed with me for over 20 years. My working meant I was unapproachable for my kids. All day I was there and attending to other people\u2019s children patiently and attentively, and I get with my own and bark at them!<\/span><\/p>\n

I was quick to apologize and promise to try and do better. Why was I giving stranger\u2019s kids better of myself than my own children?<\/span><\/p>\n

Easy answer: Because I was exhausted and trying to do too much in a day. I was running the rat race at the expense of my kids.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s a tough pill to swallow.<\/span><\/p>\n

And through these years of understanding so much more about life and about what is truly important, I want to help you see what happens if you let time slip by without building your house from the inside out.<\/span><\/p>\n

If I could have changed my mornings into this, I would have had a much more peaceful and engaged morning than having to rush through my morning like an assembly line just to make it to work on time!<\/span><\/p>\n

Waking up when it feels right to get up and to be gently woken up lovingly is priceless.<\/span><\/p>\n

Being able to model security, love, safety, belief, and positive living is the most important job we parents have.<\/span><\/p>\n

Society has made us believe that the rat race and and the \u201cstuff\u201d we need means we cannot live any other way.<\/span><\/p>\n

I say yes you can! I know that you can be the primary and most influential person in your child\u2019s life if you build your house from the inside out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting a family, and nurturing your family is an inside job.<\/span><\/p>\n

Society wants us to believe it is the brick and mortar house, the fancy car, and the corporate job that matter most before having a family.<\/span><\/p>\n

I truly believe from the experience of participating in this backward belief, that none of that matters first.<\/span><\/p>\n

What matters first is that you are going to start with yourself<\/em> \u00a0who wants<\/em> to have a family.<\/span><\/p>\n

That you are ready on the inside to make the possibility of a content and joyous family become a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n

That you are going to keep the focus on that first-FAMILY!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

And your first question becomes HOW!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

How<\/strong><\/em> do I make this happen?<\/span><\/p>\n

How<\/strong><\/em> can I get the resources to help me to accomplish my family and my dreams?<\/span><\/p>\n

How<\/strong><\/em> can I make a life for myself and my family without\u00a0<\/em>buying into society\u2019s expectations?<\/span><\/p>\n

Let me show you- let me help you from a perspective of experience and living backwards and wanting something better for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step into the world you were meant to live where you give the best to your family first!<\/span><\/p>\n
