Before I start the bashing of Kobe Bryant, let\u2019s point out a few things.<\/h2>\n

Who\u2019s the greatest basketball player of all time? I think anyone with a brain can figure out that it is Michael Jordan<\/a>. For many years we\u2019ve been trying to find the next Jordan but seemed to come up short\u00a0every time.<\/p>\n

I will admit the closest thing to MJ would be Kobe<\/span>. Just think about a few things, he walks, talks, shoots free throws, and even chews gum like Michael Jordan. The fact that he\u2019s just as tall and has Michael\u2019s coaching staff is great too.<\/p>\n

But lets be real here Kobe\u2026<\/h3>\n

You are NOT<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Michael Jordan. Now pay attention to why this is and you will realize that i\u2019m not just a Kobe<\/em> hater but a realist.<\/p>\n

When you look at the career of Michael Jordan, it would be tough to ignore his NCAA National Championship at UNC <\/a>in 1981-1982, Two<\/strong> Olympic gold medals, NBA Rookie of the year 1985, Nine<\/strong> time All-Defensive team 1988-1993 and 1996-1998, Six<\/strong> time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player\u00a01991-1993 and 1996-1998. Ten time scoring champion, 6<\/strong> NBA Championships, Ranked #1<\/strong> by ESPN<\/a>Sportscentury\u2019s Top 100 Athletes of the 20th Century\u2026 etc .etc. etc..\"Statue<\/a><\/p>\n

Keep in mind, Michael did all this with Will Purdue<\/a>, Bill Cartwright<\/a>, and Bill Wennington<\/a>. Certainly a far cry from Kobe\u2019s<\/strong>;\u00a0Shaquille O\u2019Neal<\/a>, Andrew Bynum<\/a>, Pau Gasol<\/a> and now NBA\u2019s most dominant center, Dwight Howard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yes, Michael had Scottie Pippen<\/a> to help out with the fast breaks and defense, however, Scottie couldn\u2019t hold the lead when Jordan sat on the bench sipping on Gatorade. Not saying that Pippen didn\u2019t have game, just saying the Chicago Bulls<\/a> didn\u2019t have someone to dump the ball in the post when MJ sat out.<\/p>\n

\"Howard<\/a>And now fast forward to the 2012-2013 season.\u00a0Kobe<\/span> has once again manage to get a dominant center, this time in Dwight Howard. This should make an interesting season for the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> who\u00a0acquired\u00a0Steve Nash<\/a> as well. And did I mention Nash is far better than any point guard that Jordan had when he played?<\/p>\n

Maybe I would just feel better if Kobe<\/span> admitted he models his whole career like Michael Jordan\u2019s. Kobe<\/span> is desperately aiming at that 6th championship that he feels he needs to be tied to his mentor. And to be honest with you, I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll get it, regardless of him having Dwight Howard.<\/p>\n

We all remember Bryant\u2019s all star cast of Hall of Famers when he had; Karl Malone<\/a>, Gary Payton<\/a>, and lets not forget Michael Jordan\u2019s back up from 1996 to 1998, Ron Harper<\/a>. Kobe<\/span> and Karl Malone would have a memorable feud in which\u00a0Bryant accusing Malone of making a pass at his wife at a Lakers game<\/a>. Karl was quoted as saying;\u00a0\u201cMisery loves company. This is a Hollywood soap opera, and I\u2019m not going to be a star in another Bryant soap opera. \u201d<\/p>\n

\"Kobe<\/a>Shaq<\/strong> also had his issues with Kobe<\/span> over \u201cwho\u2019s runs this team\u201d. How can one take sole credit for winning a championship when you have too many chiefs and not enough Indians? \u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s why Kobe<\/span> told ESPN;\u00a0\u201dI don\u2019t miss 15 games because of a toe injury<\/a> that everybody knows wasn\u2019t that serious in the first place,\u201d referring to a procedure called a cheilectomy<\/a> where doctors had to shave bone spurs off O\u2019Neal\u2019s toe.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt the current NBA trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the\u00a0Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>,\u00a0Andre Iguodala<\/a> to the Denver Nuggets<\/a> and Al Harrington<\/a> to the Orlando Magic<\/a> will sure shake up the NBA and make things real spicy this coming season.<\/p>\n

The question remains, will Dwight Howard<\/strong> have the\u00a0passiveness needed to deal with Kobe\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0narcissism. Howard will have to yield and hope Kobe<\/span> can show him the light, and pray that light isn\u2019t a runaway train.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s my .02<\/strong><\/p>\n
