Papa Johns and Obamacare has been one of the biggest media mix-ups in a long time.\u00a0 CEO John Schnatter has been reported stating that he was going to cut workers hours, lay workers off, and raise the price of pizzas by 11 to 14 cents because of Obamacare.<\/p>\n
If anyone doesn\u2019t know he has been a big supporter of Mit Romney in this presidential election.<\/p>\n
\nLeslie Marshall From USA News reports, Walmart is cutting hours, as is Denny\u2019s, and some other larger franchises like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.<\/p>\n
As with the companies mentioned above, those on the right want to blame the president, Democrats, Obamacare, etc.\u2014yet they had layoffs or planned them as far back as 2009 and 2010. Were they all clairvoyant? Did they all know the president would be re-elected? And what if Mitt Romney had been elected? With more Democrats in the House and Senate, would the \u201crepeal and replace\u201d idea of Obamacare have succeeded? I think not.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As a small business owner let me tell you what this means.\u00a0 Obamacare goes into effect next year.\u00a0 All the employees who work 30 hours or more for a business are entitled to benefits.\u00a0 So as a business owner I no longer have the option of whether or not to provide benefits to my employees.\u00a0 Obama decided that for me.<\/p>\n

Brian Montopoli from CBSNEWS reports Papa John\u2019s founder and CEO John Schnatter wrote Tuesday that the media had it all wrong in its reporting on his comments on how the national health care law known widely as \u201cObamacare\u201d will negatively impact his business.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany in the media reported that I said Papa John\u2019s is going to close stores and cut jobs because of Obamacare,\u201d he wrote in the Huffington Post. \u201cI never said that. The fact is we are going to open over hundreds of stores this year and next and increase employment by over 5,000 jobs worldwide. And, we have no plans to cut team hours as a result of the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n

John Schnatter reportedly lives in a 20,000 square foot mansion with a 22 car garage.\u00a0 I think he can afford to give his pizza delivery driver some insurance without letting him go.<\/p>\n
\nMatthew Payne from the Wall Street Journal states that Liberal groups, upset that Papa John\u2019s business decision will hurt employees, are looking to boycott the pizza franchise. As if that will help employees.<\/p>\n
Fortunately for Papa John\u2019s, the boycott isn\u2019t likely to have a major impact. There\u2019s an equally energetic Papa John\u2019s \u201cbuycott\u201d movement in the works. But it\u2019s worth noting, as we move into Mr. Obama\u2019s second term, that criticizing excessive regulation apparently is grounds for a boycott. And make sure you\u2019re not rich, lest your altruism be questioned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
