\nPerhaps the most important thing I have learned about, with respect to the advancement of small business owners is that there is no one single development, you can rely on for your true success. There are numerous challenges to be faced and addressed and we can and will explore many more. One that I learned so many of my students and clients had was their challenge with respect to managing their business finances and accounting.
\nYes, for success as a small business owner, you\u2019re going to need the advice and assistance of an accountant and perhaps a bookkeeper. They can be very helpful, but the actual financial management is not up to them, but to you as the owner of your business. For instance do you fully grasp and understand the true value and cost of your assets, liabilities and Return On Investment? Are you aware that it is not merely something you look at quarterly or simply at the end of the year?
\nSo where do you go from here? Your small business must be fully understood, appreciated and managed by you so that you can benefit from it now, but also in the future. Even that future provides options you might not be aware of. For example I\u2019ve known business owners who have focused on creating and managing a small business, so they could sell it and benefit from it within 5 years. You must also, study and understand the value of a franchise, and how truly expensive they can be.
\nI believe one of the most important things you want to understand is that your business is not dependent solely on the age or value of your technologies. No doubt in this day and age, technology is very important. Nevertheless your most important challenge is to recognize that businesses depend upon people, first and foremost and thus it is critical you can appreciate this.
