Chris Hadfield returns to earth after cutting Space Oddity video<\/h2>\n

Chris Hadfield returned to earth to earth Monday after spending five months at the helm of the International Space Station. \u00a0He spent the time tweeting down to his earthling friends, playing his guitar and cutting videos.<\/p>\n

Hadield has gone viral since his return as a popular\u00a0Canadian public figure from his release of a\u00a0parody of David Bowie\u2019s Space Oddity.<\/p>\n

In the video, Hadfield varies the lyrics slightly to brighten the story from the original version in which Major Tom, the\u00a0fictitious\u00a0astronaut goes missing in his space capsule. \u00a0Here\u2019s Chris Hadfiel\u2019s video:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Hadfield has been heralded as a hero and many, including Marc Garneau \u2013 fellow Candian Astronaut, suggested that hadfield could run for public office and become Canada\u2019s \u00a0next\u00a0Prime Minister. \u00a0This is not to say that we\u2019ll see him do this anytime soon, just a vouch to say that Hadfield has become that popular with this latest achievment.<\/p>\n

Marc Garneau who, in 2000, was Canada\u2019s first astronaut to visit the space station, has some ideas. He says he wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see Hadfield follow his path into politics.<\/p>\n

Some have even suggested to him that Hadfield could become prime minister tomorrow if he wanted.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s certainly a very popular figure,\u201d Garneau told the Toronto Star. \u201cI\u2019ve had numerous people say this to me. He has superstar status. I think he has the world by the tail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garneau, however, has not spoken to Hadfield personally since he landed and has no idea if he has any interest in politics,<\/p>\n

It is more likely that Hadfield will first be courted by a number of organizations with requests for personal appearances, speaking engagements and even book offers.<\/p>\n

The Calgary Stampede announced last week that Hadfield will be the 2013 Stampede Parade Marshal, coming on the heels of a Twitter exchange between Hadfield and the Calgary Stampede officials.<\/p>\n

Garneau also believes that Hadfield could become president of the\u00a0Canadian Space Agency<\/a>\u00a0if he wanted.<\/p>\n

He expects that Parliament will fete Hadfield at some point this year. \u201cIt wouldn\u2019t surprise me if he takes a bow in Parliament.<\/p>\n

As Canada\u2019s first astronaut in space, Garneau never felt that his status would be diminished upon return.<\/p>\n

And he doesn\u2019t expect Hadfield\u2019s star to dim anytime soon.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hadfield\u2019s achievment was a long time in the coming and is a perfect example of how dedication and hard work can pay off. \u00a0A\u00a0valuable\u00a0lesson for today\u2019s younger generations.<\/p>\n
