Welcome back. I am so passionate about kidney disease. You see I am one of those statistics of kidney disease. My story starts back 23 years ago. But to set the story up I must go way back. Back to the age of two. You see I got really sick, I was potty trained at 12 months old, which is rare. That should have been my parents first sign something was wrong. Anyway as I said I got so sick, I ended up in the hospital. They determined that the valve between the kidney and bladder was staying open. Thus allowing urine to pass from the bladder to kidneys. Everything was fixed, went home remember\u00a0 literally having to drink a gallon of water ever day. The vision I remember were gallon water just all in our kitchen.\u00a0\u00a0 As I got older water was not my favorite. Now\u2026. jump to 1986. I end up with a severe kidney infection. After the course of antibiotics, I was to follow up with my doctor to make sure the infection was gone.\u00a0 The doctor say \u201cinfection gone, but you have protein in your urine\u201d.\u00a0 Ok, nothing said went on my way with a clean bill of health. Skip to 1989, became pregnant. Went to doctor to confirm with a urine test. Came back , yep you are pregnant, and did you know you have protein in your urine. Yes I responded, have had it for several years. Pregnancy went fine until I reach my 37 week. Then my beautiful baby girl was born 7 weeks early. Weighing in a 3lbs 3oz.. Boy she was small. Thank God she did not have any problems. Came home at 5lbs in 3 weeks and 1 day. Today she is almost 23.\u00a0 My doctor was puzzled as to why I was doing so well, and then bam baby born early. Come to find out I was in renal failure. You see renal failure will cause premature births.\u00a0 It was a blessing that when I was first told of protein being in my urine that I did not question it. I may have been told to not have any children.
