It has always been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, if that is indeed true, then how many words is a series of <em>moving<\/em> pictures valued at? Newspapers and magazines, which I believe, still have a place in our culture, can print innumerable still images and text but have no way of inserting video into their columns and articles. Enter computers, TVs and of course the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the Internet comes websites such as You Tube, Vimeo and many others devoted solely to exhibiting videos \u2013 usually made by people like us. These offerings can be shared by us with the rest of the world simply at the touch of a button. Your pet\u2019s latest tricks, your kid\u2019s game-winning goal or just an inspirational moment or two. All this and more can be viewed by anyone and everyone you choose to share it with. Some of these videos will only be seen by a few, others will go \u2018viral\u2019 and be seen by literally millions around the world. The question is why?<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Allocca from You Tube explains this phenom in this short video (what else). Check it out:<\/p>\n<p>Great video isn\u2019t it? That 2 days worth of video is uploaded every minute blew me away! So Kevin\u00a0 categorizes the three types of viral-potential videos \u2013 Tastemakers, Communities of Participation and Unexpectedness, and gives examples. So I guess if you want to \u2018go viral\u2019 with YOUR video it should fit into one of these categories.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, you may not wish to share your video with that many people. If you are a video marketer, it isn\u2019t vital to go viral with any video but rather to aim for a target market whose viewers are actually looking for what you have.
