As I get older and go through my life I find myself questioning my inner spirits.\u00a0 As you get older you always have the opportunity to look back on your life and evaluate your own efforts as it pertains to your life.\u00a0 Although you can look at every facet of your life from your personal to your professional I am keeping this article more on the personal side of things and relating it to raising my kids in a challenging world.\u00a0 What does ambition mean<\/em> and how did it find its way into this conversation.<\/p>\n In my life right now I have 3 of my 4 kids playing basketball.\u00a0 My middle child is a freshman son and he is surrounded by a 7th grader and a junior both of which are females.\u00a0 Sports played a big part in my life and opened some doors up that would not have been opened.\u00a0 I believe I live my life with a certain passion and although I have plenty of faults it seems I try to instill into my kids the challenge of being the best they can be.\u00a0 I think that is fair and I know it will teach them valuable lessons as they make their way down this road called life.\u00a0 What happens when the one that is leading them does not have this passion?\u00a0 Yes I am talking about the coach and the responsibility of those in charge of this person.\u00a0 What does ambition mean<\/strong> for these people?<\/p>\n As with any person who holds a position in life there comes a responsibility.\u00a0 There are so many opinions on things that just because you feel a certain way about something does not mean that it is right or that others share your feelings!\u00a0 However when it comes to my kids, something that I and other parents should be passionate about, I try to allow my gut instincts to keep me in line.\u00a0 I have also learned to try and let these gut instincts sort themselves out through time especially when it comes to feelings regarding my kids.\u00a0 After 3 seasons I believe I have given my instincts, especially the one from the gut, the truest one of all, plenty of time to sort themselves out.\u00a0 When does the coach ask of themselves what does ambition mean<\/span> and am I answering the call?\u00a0 We ask a lot out of kids these days and what we are asking from kids at the varsity level we should easily ask this out of those coaching them.\u00a0 In all honesty the true ones, the ones who have the passion, ask this of themselves.\u00a0 It shows when the coach relieves himself because he has been unable to get the job done.\u00a0 It might show up when the coach feels he is not getting through to the kids anymore.\u00a0 The key in this situation is the coach relieves himself or steps down.\u00a0 To me that coach is worth his salt and there can be no harsher critic than himself.\u00a0 But what happens when that fire does not burn inside and the coach refuses to acknowledge it?\u00a0 How does one move forward?\u00a0 The initial response is the facts speak for themselves.\u00a0 But it goes deeper than that.\u00a0 It goes much deeper than that!<\/p>\n Passionate about inner greatness.\u00a0 Passionate about doing your very best.\u00a0 These are qualities of ambition.\u00a0 A quiet voice that leads individuals to greater heights.\u00a0 When someone in charge lacks the very passion necessary it becomes quite a challenge for all of those under this persons tutelage.\u00a0 When you place teenage kids within this tutelage you have let these kids down.\u00a0 When my child is one of those you have a problem.\u00a0 I challenge my kids.\u00a0 I do so in what I feel is a positive and growing environment.\u00a0 One where discussion can take place from both sides and one where there will be setbacks and that is ok as long as you are giving your best effort.\u00a0 So when those very qualities that I have established as a baseline for my kids are not being met\u00a0 by a coach there is confusion as to the purpose of the effort.\u00a0 In other words give your best is not being reciprocated whats the point.\u00a0 It is important that we as people teaching values to our growing youth hold ourselves accountable.\u00a0 if we are unwilling or unable to then others need to step in and rectify the situation.\u00a0 This is our responsibility in life and I strongly believe should never be compromised.<\/p>\n What Does Ambition Mean From Where I Stand<\/p>\nWhat does ambition mean when your talking about sports<\/h2>\n
