It is during this period when flowers in public parks start blooming and orchard trees lining the road turn into a canopy of colorful blossoms a midst the lush grassy greenery. Clear blue skies meet the serene beaches along the shores of San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles and just about every coastal town and city across the state.

Between the months of March and April, schools take their annual spring break. It is during that time you can expect traffic on roads to campuses to clear up while theme parks and zoos get crowded, both with students as well as local and foreign tourists. This is also the time when DST or daylight saving time starts at 2am on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2am on the first Sunday of November. Springtime in California ends in style as the Memorial Day Weekend preceding the last Monday of May officially signals the start of summer.

Springtime in California Weather

California’s climate ranges from sub-arctic to pleasantly warm to steamy and arid across its regions depending on elevation and proximity to the coast. Springtime in California has varying weather conditions across various parts of the state. Big Bear Lake, for instance, may still have light snow up until late March while some areas like LA can experience light rain in the afternoon. If you plan to visit any part of California, be sure to check out the average temperatures and precipitation on the days of your visit.

Big Bear Lake

Places to visit – Springtime in California

Great sights await the traveler visiting California during springtime in this state. While I often visit public gardens to enjoy the gorgeous spring blossoms, and enjoy some moments for my photography … I often find myself visiting Mendocino’s Coast Botanical Garden or Huntington Garden near Pasadena for some exotic orchids in full bloom.

Springtime ushers in the California poppies and wildflowers with the meadows blanketed in vibrant color and is the place to be after the snow melts away. Yosemite is a parade of colors and Hite Cove Trail is simply the state’s best wildflower showcase and the place to be if you want to get away from the crowds in parks and zoos. I also find the weather becoming quite comfortable at the Joshua Tree National park and in the Anza-Borrego deserts.

I don’t think it happens every year, but do check out the poppy blooms in Antelope Valley which peaks during mid-April. The State Recreation Area near the Mojave National Preserves also displays its blooms and is another site to enjoy Mother Nature when visiting the state. I have heard people say that for every one wildflower cut, there would be a hundred less wildflower blooms next year.

Celebrating Springtime in California

Now if you want to enjoy how California residents celebrate the spring months, you can check out some man-made fruit-growing areas around Fresno which erupts in spring blossoms through the Fresno Blossom Trail. North of San Diego is the Carlsbad Flower Fields where you can feast your eyes on a 50-acre sea of flowers at their blossom peak from March to May.

Paso Robles, CA Vineyards

Let’s not forget about California’s world renown vineyards. While the Napa valley is the most popular, Paso Robles between LA and San Francisco is home to over 250 wineries and their vineyards are exceptionally beautiful at this time of year when the grapes start to grow. With a truly warm and inviting climate, Paso Robles enjoys early springtime and long autumns which are conducive to growing typical produce like almonds, olives and grapevines that have become tourist attractions.

Know the place you will visit….

Springtime in California may still have some snows and mudslides in highways can close down sections well into April. Tioga Pass in Yosemite, for instance opens late in April 15 depending on how fast the snow clears away. But the beautiful waterfalls in Yosemite spill over and makes for amazing views. The Sequoia National Park may be open all year round but depending on the road conditions, the road leading to lower King’s Canyon can be closed up to early summer. So it’s best to always refer to tourist bulletins and updates online to know the road conditions to the places you want to visit when in California.

Yosemite Waterfalls

And when you visit this wonderful state, should you come through where I have resided since 1979, Paso Robles, you be sure to let me know, and maybe we can get together for a wine tasting tour.

Make it happen…Empower your Success while living your life!

If you’re passionate, like me, about achieving your dreams and goals… and especially are looking to help other people achieve theirs…

…please join me because you will LOVE working with us!

Lock arms with us right here, right now

Our vision is MASSIVE and has room for you…

Our purpose is to help to build the kind of lifestyle you truly want…

Our goal is to help you do it while keeping everything as simple as possible and support you every step of the way.

Our Prosperity Team is thriving — and Success leaves clues!

There is a big reason why so many of our teammates are seeing success ….
