I saw an interesting term the other day, which describes my sense of the change that is occurring.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blogconomy.<\/span>\u00a0 As far as I can tell \u2013 our economy is being transformed over the interwebs, as we tweet. Increasing numbers of entrepreneurs, advocates and hobbyists are coming to the conclusion that they need a blog!\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Manufacturers are losing market share to \u201cshade-tree\u201d mechanics who are pushing out spare car parts with their 3-D printers \u2013 with designs that people are sharing online. Recently, I heard about a Dad who built a prosthetic hand for his young son, using his 3-D printer.\u00a0 He has since created a global network of people who own 3-D printers, and he has connected them with families of children needing prosthetic hands. They\u2019re sharing the designs for the prosthesis over the internet.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he finds even more creative uses for 3-D printer that he can talk about online \u2013 and sharing through a blog.<\/p>\n

The other day, I took a picture of the TV that was embedded in my hotel room\u2019s bathroom mirror (their \u2018electric television\u2019).\u00a0 I uploaded it to my Instagram account, and before I got my clothes moved from my suitcase to the closet, the hotel\u2019s social media tech had re-tweeted my pic, letting me know she was glad I was enjoying the tv-viewing feature!<\/p>\n

People in pursuit of every activity that you can think of are adding an online feature to their offline presence. And many of those people are finding that they need a blog to share what they\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n
