Well it\u2019s here, the new redesigned Chevy Corvette Stingray<\/span><\/em><\/strong> sports car. At first when I seen it, it was a little ackward looking for me with the sharper edges and odd looking rear end. But after seeing the new Corvette Stingray many times and in different angles and colors, it\u2019s starting to grow on me and I\u2019m thinking about giving it careful consideration for purchasing. additionally, I just discovered a whole slew of tech advantages that Chevy crammed into the new Corvette.<\/p>\n Below, are 5 of the most important things that you need to know about the new redesigned Chevy corvette before you decided to buy. Check them out and let me know what you think.<\/p>\n The New and Redesigned Chevy Corvette Stingray Is Faster Than a Grand Sport<\/strong><\/p>\n Chevrolet announced only a few weeks ago that the Corvette C7\u2032s documented lap time at the VIR (Virginia International Raceway) Grand Course is 2:51.8.<\/strong> What Chevy didn\u2019t want nto tell you is that the outgoing C6 Grand Sport model (fitted with larger 275mm front and 325mm rear tires and weighing in at 60 or 70 pounds less<\/em>) is a bit slower around that exact track.<\/p>\n The Chevy Corvette\u2019s lap time was in the 2-minute, 54-second<\/strong> range at VIR. The current Z06 runs a 2:49<\/strong>. Wow\u2026 that\u2019s not very far off at all from the blazing speed of the Z06!<\/p>\n Alex MacDonald<\/span> is the chassis control engineer who has calibrated the C7\u2032s Performance Traction Management system or PTM. After many miles of laps around the Milford Road Course (also known as the Lutz ring) at GM\u2019s Milford Proving Ground, he\u2019s quicker using PTM 5 (the most aggressive mode) than he is with the system totally deactivated.<\/p>\n Even Jim Mero<\/span>, the ride\/handling performance engineer responsible for all of the Corvette\u2019s official lap times, says the system is truly unbeatable. Mero<\/span> used PTM in the C6 ZR1 to set that car\u2019s 7-minute, 19-second lap time at the Nurburgring (Track in Germany) and admits he hasn\u2019t tried to beat PTM on the Lutz ring, but that it would be difficult.<\/p>\n According to MacDonald he knows he\u2019s got the calibration perfect \u2014 and he\u2019s got the data to back this up \u2014 when Mero complains that it\u2019s just barely slowing him down. \u201cThat\u2019s where the calibration needs to be for the best corner exit speed,\u201d says MacDonald. So basically we coming closer and closer to cars being able to perform all on their own without human interference.<\/p>\n Each new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 is equipped with active noise cancellation that utilizes the car\u2019s audio system to diminish unwanted road and tire noise. A 14-liter bass enclosure built into the car\u2019s rear bulkhead enhances the bass-booms you want and cancels the ones you don\u2019t. The C7\u2032s optional 10-speaker Bose audio system comes with two subwoofers.<\/p>\n Audio manufacturers say that never before has a Chevy Corvette\u2019s audio system has ever sounded and boomed like this one. Just means you will not have to go out and spend a fortune on an upgraded audio system. The new and redesigned Chevy Corvette Stingray is filled with tons of cutting edge tech advantages like this.<\/p>\n Honestly though, do any of us really care about the radio and how much \u201cboom\u201d it can make? I know most of us only really care about the noises of the growls and snarls the powerful Corvette engine can make.<\/span> <\/p>\n According to Jim Mero,<\/span> what the best part of a Z51 Stingray<\/strong> is and he says it\u2019s the tires. Michelin North America\u2019s Lee Willard, lead development engineer for the new Corvette tire, the Pilot Super Sport ZP<\/strong> says there is a hybrid tire that utilizes technologies from both the Pilot Super Sport<\/span> line of ultrahigh-performance tires and the Pilot Sport Cup DOT race tire currently optional on C6 Corvettes.<\/p>\n Mero states that \u201cThe tire has high limits but also lots of latitude.\u201d By latitude Mero<\/span> means the tire (at freezing or below air temps)\u00a0 only requires one lap to reach its maximum potential on a dry track. And thanks to dual compounds and asymmetric sidewalls, it outperforms the outgoing standard-fitment tire on the Corvette in every category , including tire wear.<\/p>\n Tire Temperature\/Chassis Controls Are Included The new redesigned Chevy Corvette Stingray<\/span><\/em><\/strong> now uses the tire temperature data available through the C7\u2032s tire pressure sensors to more meticulously control its ABS and electronic differential<\/span>. Because the pressure sensors don\u2019t measure tire temperature directly (they actually measure the temperature of the TPMS sensor\u2019s microprocessor), it\u2019s not a perfect , but it is one that data monitoring can largely adapt to. And it\u2019s one more piece of information that can be utilized to enhance the exhilarating driving experience.<\/p>\n The Corvettes tire temperatures are divided into three categories: cold<\/strong> (below 45 degrees), warm<\/strong> (45-115 degrees) and hot (above 115 degrees). In \u201ccold\u201d mode ABS overrides a lot\u00a0 sooner and more progressively, while the differential<\/span> is more aggressive to place limitations inside wheelspin.
