Chan Kim<\/p>\n and Ren\u00e9e Mauborgne.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Those three are some of the best business books<\/p>\n ever written.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Back to positioning\u2026<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Positioning is the \u201cperception\u201d that happens in<\/p>\n the minds of your target audience.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The story they tell themselves.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n It allows you to differentiate your product or<\/p>\n service from that of your competitors.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The essence of \u201cpositioning\u201d is to render the<\/p>\n competition\u00a0IR-REL-E-VANT.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n You should use positioning to:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n 1. laser-focus in on your ideal target audience.<\/p>\n 2. filter out who you DON\u2019T want.<\/p>\n 3. differentiate yourself from everyone else.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n In today\u2019s me-too marketplace \u201cpositioning\u201d is<\/p>\n how you win.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n This is how savvy marketers and brands are carving<\/p>\n out a piece of the pie which THEY THEN OWN.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The online marketplace is already competitive.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Make no mistake of that.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n This is WHY differentiating yourself is THE<\/p>\n ONLY way to succeed in today\u2019s competitive world.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n To add more pressure, the barrier to entry for<\/p>\n someone wanting to start an online business is<\/p>\n really low.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Meaning \u2026 pretty much anyone in their bedroom<\/p>\n<\/p>\n essentially become your competitor.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Why should customers choose you over your<\/p>\n competitors?<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n If you\u2019re not differentiating yourself you\u2019re<\/p>\n going to have a hard time getting any real<\/p>\n traction.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n For this reason you need a compelling differentiator.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n If you think it\u2019s competitive online now, you<\/p>\n ain\u2019t seen nothing yet.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n It\u2019s dog-eat-dog already.
