Who is the new Pope?<\/h2>\n

His name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio<\/strong>, born December 17, 1936, is the new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.\u00a0 He is the 266th pope and the first pope to come from the Americas<\/p>\n

He will be known as Pope Francis<\/strong> \u2013 after St. Francis of Assisi, because he is a lover of the poor.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Pope Francis<\/em> belonged to one of five children in Buenos Aires.\u00a0 He entered the Society of Jesus in 1958.\u00a0 He was eventually ordained to the priesthood on December 13, 1969.<\/p>\n

You all know that the duty of the Conclave was to give a bishop to Rome.\u00a0 It seems that my brother Cardinals have come almost to the ends of the Earth to get him\u2026but here we are.\u00a0 I thank you for the welcome that has come from the diocesan community of Rome.<\/p>\n

First of all, I would say a prayer:\u00a0 Pray for our Bishop Emeritus Benedict XVI\u2026Let us all pray together for him, that the Lord bless him and Our Lady protect him.<\/p>\n
